About the Mission

The Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, together with the Embassy of Somalia to Switzerland and Austria, serves as the principal diplomatic representation of the Somali government in the heart of international multilateral diplomacy.

Established in Geneva — the world's capital of multilateral diplomacy — the Mission engages with over 30 international organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, the World Health Organization, the International Labour Organization, the World Trade Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Our mandate encompasses advancing Somalia's national interests, strengthening bilateral ties with Switzerland and Austria, and championing the country's positions within the UN system and other multilateral forums. The Mission plays a pivotal role in Somalia's engagement on peace, security, humanitarian affairs, human rights, and sustainable development.

Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Mission fulfills a broad range of diplomatic and consular functions, working to deepen partnerships between Somalia and the international community while ensuring the welfare of Somali nationals in Switzerland and Austria.
