The diplomatic representation of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Our Mandate

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Bern is the official diplomatic representation of Somalia to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein. It operates under the authority of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The Embassy's primary mandate is to promote and protect Somalia's national interests, strengthen bilateral relations, and provide consular and diplomatic services to Somali nationals residing in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Functions and Responsibilities

The Embassy carries out the following core functions on behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia:

  • Representing Somalia in all diplomatic and official capacities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
  • Promoting and facilitating trade, investment, and cultural exchange between Somalia and Switzerland
  • Providing consular services including passport issuance, visa facilitation, and document authentication
  • Supporting Somali diaspora communities and protecting the rights of Somali nationals abroad
  • Coordinating with the Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva on multilateral affairs

Location and Contact

The Embassy is located in Bern, the federal capital of Switzerland. The Permanent Mission to the United Nations is based in Geneva, close to the major UN and international organization offices.
