Passport & NIRA ID Application

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Geneva assists Somali nationals residing in Switzerland and Austria with passport applications and registration with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA). These services confirm identity and citizenship and are required for travel, residency, and other official purposes. Applicants are generally required to provide a completed application form, proof of Somali nationality or prior identity documents, a recent passport-sized photograph, proof of current residence in Switzerland or Austria, and the applicable consular fee. First-time applicants and those registering with NIRA may also be asked to provide biometric data and supporting family documents. Requirements can vary depending on individual circumstances, including for minors and renewals.
