Passport & NIRA ID Application

Apply for a Somali passport or National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) ID card

Appointment Required: All passport and NIRA ID applications must be submitted in person by appointment. Book your appointment →

Required Documents

Please bring the following documents to your appointment. All documents must be original or certified copies:

  • Completed application form (available at the Embassy)
  • Valid form of identification (existing Somali passport, national ID, or birth certificate)
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs (white background)
  • Proof of Somali nationality (birth certificate, family registration, or equivalent)
  • Proof of residence in Switzerland or Austria
  • Application fee (payable at the Embassy — cash only)

Processing Times

Standard processing times are as follows. The Embassy will notify applicants when their documents are ready for collection.
