Services Available

The Embassy offers the following marriage-related consular services:

  • Registration of marriages contracted in Switzerland or Austria
  • Authentication of marriage certificates for use in Somalia
  • Legalization of Swiss or Austrian civil marriage certificates for Somali legal purposes

Required Documents

  • Original Swiss or Austrian marriage certificate with certified translation
  • Valid passports or national IDs of both spouses
  • Completed Embassy application form
  • Two passport-sized photographs of each spouse
  • Application fee (cash only)

Processing Time

Marriage certificate registration and authentication typically takes 3–6 weeks. The Embassy will contact applicants when the documents are ready.
