Marriage Certificate

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Geneva assists Somali nationals residing in Switzerland and Austria with the registration and certification of marriage certificates. A registered marriage certificate confirms civil status and is often required for family reunification, residency procedures, civil registry updates, and other official matters. Applicants are generally required to provide a completed application form, valid identity documents or passports of both spouses, two witnesses’ details, and the applicable consular fee. Where a marriage took place in Switzerland or Austria, a copy of the local civil registry marriage record should also be submitted to support registration with Somali authorities. Processing times may vary depending on verification with civil registry authorities in Somalia.
